WeTrainYourDog publishes free, practical dog training guides for everyday owners: people with a new puppy, a dog who pulls on the leash, or a barker who keeps the neighbors up. We are an independent guide site, not a local trainer or training business.

What we believe

• Kind methods work. We teach reward-based, force-free training, as recommended by veterinary behavior and animal welfare organizations. We do not recommend shock, prong or choke collars.
• Fix the cause. The same behavior can have different causes, so our guides help you figure out why before telling you what to do.
• Know when to get help. Aggression, severe fear, severe separation anxiety and sudden behavior changes deserve a veterinarian and a qualified behavior professional.

How we research

• Our guides are based on published guidance from organizations such as the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior, the American Kennel Club, the ASPCA, the RSPCA, VCA Animal Hospitals and the Humane Society, and each guide lists its sources.
